Introducing the SILVAE web portal - location system for vegetation, trees and their environment

The purpose of the SILVAE portal (http://silvae.agroparistech.fr/home/) is to give a broad-based population access to spatial data for the whole of metropolitan France about forest plant species —mostly tree— together with the main factors that determine their ecology. The available information is classified by theme. The information concerns the bibliographic references of the AgroParisTech documentation centre in Nancy, and the LERFoB data: the phyto-ecological records made in the field found in the EcoPlant data base and continuous geographic spatial data extracted from Digitalis data base. Before using the portal, it is important to read the associated descriptions and scientific publications so as to appreciate the limitations in use inherent to each type of data. SILVAE will be regularly enriched so as to provide managers, researchers and students with up-to-date information

L’objectif du portail SILVAE (http://silvae.agroparistech.fr/home/) est de permettre un accès gratuit à un large public à des informations géoréférencées, sur l’ensemble de la France métropolitaine, concernant les espèces végétales forestières, essentiellement arborées, et les principaux facteurs déterminant leur écologie. Les informations disponibles sont classées par thématiques. Elles concernent des références bibliographiques du centre de documentation d’AgroParisTech de Nancy, et des données du LERFoB : des relevés phytoécologiques de terrain géolocalisés issus de la base de données EcoPlant, et des informations géographiques continues dans l’espace, extraites de la base de données Digitalis. Il est nécessaire de lire les fiches descriptives et les publications scientifiques avant toute utilisation, afin de bien évaluer les limites d’utilisation propres à chacune des données. SILVAE sera régulièrement enrichi, dans le but de fournir aux gestionnaires, chercheurs ou étudiants une information régulièrement actualisée
