Decomposing Phylodiversity

Abstract : We unify the definitions of phylogenetic and functional entropy and diversity as a generalization of HCDT entropy when an ultrametric tree is considered. We derive the decomposition of phylodiversity and its estimation bias correction to allow its estimation from real, often undersampled data. Phyloentropy can be transformed into phylodiversity to provide a measure of true diversity, i.e. an effective number of species or communities.
